About This Blog

Welcome to my blog.

All who come here are welcome, indeed encouraged, to participate.  However, there are a few simple rules:

  1. Be polite!  No flaming, defaming, name calling or vulgarity.  If that is your thing, there are plenty of other blogs that cater to that sort of thing.
  2. Opinions are welcome.  However, if you relate to anything, directly or by implication, as fact, then you are obliged to include the evidence and/or logic that supports it.  Please leave sensationalism, backed by zilch, to the Main Stream Media.
  3. We are here to have fun, explore the world of knowledge, and exercise our brains in the process.  Please do not take yourself (or anyone else) too seriously.
  4. We want to discuss what you think.  If you have some compelling need to discuss how you feel, please use one of the numerous medical web sites.
  5. When you register, please include your real name and/or a valid email address.  If you cannot be at least that honest, you have come to the wrong place.
  6. Be reasonable, be rational, have fun — but don’t be shy.  Remember, there are no stupid statements, only the confused people who utter them.  I have never let that stop me so why should you?

Those of you entering here for the first time might well ask “who is this guy and why is he blogging?”.  The answers are amazingly simple.  First answer: I am just another ordinary guy, second answer: because I want to.  I am old now and, having spent so many years adrift in a corporate hierarchy, I now relish the time and means to use my faculties simply to please myself.   With any luck, this exercise will also delay somewhat the inevitable calcification of my brain.

Do I think I know more that the rest of you?  Depends on which of you we are talking about;  mostly yes.  Do I think I have the one best answer for every issue confronting mankind?  Pretty much.  However, all my answers are imperfect and this is where you come in.  With your help, we all learn something and, all of our answers inch a bit closer toward correct.  Do I expect any of this to really make a difference?  Yes – to me!  I plan to enjoy myself immensely!  I am, you see, a follower of the philosophy of Ayn Rand, ergo, I live for myself.  I haven’t an altruistic fiber in my being.  Part of my purpose here is to show why this is a moral, even noble point of view.
